Ted Todd – perfect engineered wood every time!

Engineered wood flooring is becoming an ever-more popular choice for homeowners who are seeking the look of real wood at a more affordable price. It’s also a fantastic option for areas that aren’t suitable for solid wood, such as your kitchen or conservatory.

Whether it’s attractive oak flooring in your open-plan kitchen, a herringbone design in your bedroom or beautiful dark wood in your living room, Ted Todd engineered wood flooring will take your home to the next level. As well as looking spectacular, engineered wood flooring can work with underfloor heating and is available in a wide selection of styles, colours and finishes. It can also be installed onto stairs over your existing staircase.

We’re currently supplying and installing a lot of engineered oak flooring, which has a top layer of solid oak veneer, but comprises multiple layers of softwood, plywood or high-density fibreboard. This multi-layered construction provides several benefits over solid wood yet still looks like solid oak as the top layer is real oak.

Every engineered wood floor that we supply and install enjoys a 25-year manufacturing guarantee, giving you complete peace of mind, but it can also last many years with regular maintenance. And when it starts to look a little tired, we can sand the surface and refinish it to bring it back to life.

Engineered oak flooring can’t be installed in damp or humid environments because it lacks sufficient moisture resistance to prevent damage to the floor. Wood-effect luxury vinyl tiles are a really good option for these areas, such as bathrooms.

In general, engineered wood flooring has a lower price point than solid oak, largely because it’s made from components that are less expensive to source.

Subfloor preparation is a key activity to make sure that your wood flooring is installed correctly, and that's where we come as we ensure that everything is prepared to the manufacturer's specifications.

Finally, our customers love the fact that our engineered wood is manufactured here in the UK and is FSC-accredited to maximise sustainability.
