Laminate flooring has changed considerably in the last 10-20 years. It’s unrecognisable in terms of the textures and designs you can now choose, with both modern and antique looking wood designs, ceramic tile and herringbone wood styles too.

When it comes to fitting laminate flooring it’s applied onto an underlay. We have different options for underlay, some of which have extra thermal properties for concrete floors while others have higher decibel ratings for upstairs rooms to help to stop noise transfer.

We have to leave an expansion gap around the perimeter of the room and there are two options to cover this:

1. We can use a colour-matching scotia beading which gets pinned to the skirting boards
2. We’re able to remove your existing skirting boards and supply and re-fit new ones once the laminate has been fitted. The skirting is available in laminate-style colour matching or MDF white in many profiles and sizes. A solid wood option such as oak can be oiled or stained

When we fit the laminate we undercut the door frames so the laminate can slide underneath, leaving a neat finish. If multiple rooms are fitted at the same time, we follow the laminate through each area without any door thresholds to give a continuous look. If door thresholds are required, these are available in a colour to match the laminate flooring too.

Laminate can be used in all rooms in the house except for the bathroom, and we can even fit laminate flooring onto stairs and steps as an alternative to carpet!
