Wool carpets

Wool carpets are made primarily from woven sheep wool, and many that we sell are from UK-based suppliers and manufacturers. The most common carpets are made in a twist pile or a loop pile design and the quality is measured by weight per square inch. This is because the tighter the weave, the thicker and heavier the carpet is and the more hardwearing – and more expensive! – it will be…

Common carpet weights are 40oz, 50oz and 60oz. We can also supply 100% wool carpets and wool carpets made from completely natural un-dyed fibres from sheep that are from across the UK – these are certainly a luxurious choice. As always, the underlay you choose to go underneath your carpet is an important consideration, so be sure to talk to us about this too.

Polypropylene carpets

Polypropylene carpets are made with man-made fibres where the colours are dyed into the fibres in a liquid form making them easy to clean and ideal for hard-wearing environments… In other words, they’re perfect for messy kids and a favourite with landlords. A range of different qualities, thicknesses, patterns and colours is available, so you’ll certainly find one that you’ll love and to fit your budget.

Carpet underlays

We’ve tried and tested many carpet underlays over the years and we now use a select few that we think are the best value and quality on the market:

• Cloud 9 contract or super contract
• Cloud 9 Cumulus

Cloud 9 Cumulus underlay is our finest underlay and it feels very luxurious when you walk over it. It’s 11mm thick and is ideal for all over the house, but it’s especially effective in areas with a lot of traffic. Cloud 9 Contract underlay is an 8mm high-density polyurethane underlay, made from mostly recycled materials. It has a firmer feel underfoot while it also helps your carpet to retain its thickness so it will look great for many years. This is recommended if you like a firmer feel underfoot and is particularly good for hallways, stairs and landings, or anywhere else with heavy wear.
