The company was incorporated in 2005 by Father and Son David and Matt. David has been involved in flooring since 1976 and having worked for many local companies, he was trained in the traditional methods of carpet fitting when you used to have to hand-sew small sections together, including pattern matching. David also learnt the latest trends as they become more popular such as laminate and wood flooring, sheet vinyl flooring and commercial vinyls and carpet tiles and LVTs flooring.

In the late 1990s David decided to become a subcontractor and get his own van and worked for local shops in Huntingdon and Cambridge. While Matt was at school he was always keen on helping his Dad during weekends and summer holidays to learn new skills and earn some pocket money. Matt always knew he wanted to choose a trade career and decided to start with learning carpets and flooring from his Dad and the rest is history as they say.

Shortly after starting work with his dad Matt decided he wanted to start a business, so M&D Flooring Limited was registered at Companies House in 2005 and they started to advertise locally to generate enquiries. As they became busier they were able to stop sub-contracting to solely concentrate on their own work. Fast forward to 2015 and David retired, and Matt is working hard with two fitters that have been trained from scratch within the company. And today M&D Flooring is still steadily growing with seven full-time employed fitters, a Sales Manager and Matt still very much out installing and overseeing estimates and the installation teams.

The business's reputation over the years has helped to build and maintain relationships with local schools, universities, builders and other trades who provide regular work, as well as within the local community which generates enquiries from recommendations and referrals from existing clients and repeat business.

Managing the whole process from quoting to fitting means that we can do everything in the right way and guarantee customer satisfaction. This includes everything from the selection to the fitting of the flooring, right through to our open and honest approach to pricing. • We bring a range of samples to your home or office at your convenience, including evenings and Saturdays if necessary. Or you can make an appointment to visit our Huntingdon showroom to see a larger selection
• While you get your hands on our huge range of carpets, wood, vinyl and laminate samples we can measure up your project
• We help you match colours with your existing décor and suggest bespoke patterns that will make your new floor unique
• We can quote you there and then (unless it’s a particularly large job)
• You can keep your favourite samples for a few days so you can spend some time getting used to them and comparing them in natural and artificial light
• We can even move large pieces of furniture for you and trim doors that are too low to get your lovely new flooring underneath
• We confirm your quote in writing
• On approval, we order the flooring, which could be delivered to us within as little as 48 hours
• Once we receive the stock we call you to arrange a fitting time and date
• We don’t let you down! After all, we only arrange the appointment once we have the stock, so there are no excuses
• We turn up on time and we use all of our years of experience to craft a beautiful new floor for you with no shortcuts
• We keep you informed every step of the way especially if there are any unforeseen issues under your old flooring. Should this occur we will explain the situation to you and propose a solution with the expected extra costs
• Once we’re finished we clean up and we can even take your old flooring away for you and help to put furniture or appliances back into place
